Chapter 39 – Moving Weekend
Tina: Oh, no I quite understand. When I haven’t seen my wife in a week, doing dirty laundry is not my top priority.
The all laughed.
Charlie: Thank you for this lunch. Is there anything else we can do for you?
Bette: Just be safe, enjoy your stay here in California and if I need you again, I will call you.
Tina: And send us your invoice and we will take care of it.
Bette: Oh, and one more thing. Bail bond money is not an expense I will reimburse you for. So, if you guys partake of alcoholic beverages, do so in moderation and do not get into trouble. And don’t miss the plane. You won’t have first class seats on the next one.
Charlie: No ma’am, we won’t. Thank you for everything. Ready guys. Let’s get these trucks turned in and to our hotel. Oh, we do have to make a stop and deliver a washer and dryer first.
Tina: I’ll lead you over. My studio is 10 minutes away.
Charlie: Hopefully this won’t take long.
Bette stood up and hugged Charlie and so did Tina. He then shook Jim’s hand and they were off. Tina told Bette that she would be back as quickly as she could.
Jim: You bought them first class plane tickets to go home?
Bette: Yeah, I did. I find that if you treat those people who work for you as you would your family, you get better service. They used a great deal of care to move that furniture. I doubt there is a scratch as a result. And I bet none of your new paint job was damaged either.
Jim: They were very competent in what they were doing and they were very efficient. I wish they were based here in Los Angeles. I could use a good set of movers.
Tina: Okay, Bette lets’ tear down those boxes and get them to the dumpster and then get on that kitchen. Jim are you ready to talk to us or do you need more time?
Jim: Let me work with my crew to make the beds and then I’ll be ready.
Bette: Okay. Let me get busy or I’ll have to have a nap.
Bette worked on the boxes and the kitchen. Tina went with Charlie to get the washer dryer installed in her studio. She saw Jim’s crew come in and they all disappeared. An hour later, they appeared and Jim introduced them and then they left. Tina walked in just after Jim’s crew left. She said the washer and dryer were installed and were in working order.
