    Chapter 39 – Moving Weekend

Jim: I think I can come close. For the average person they will not notice the difference. But you will see it more than likely. So, to avoid that, we simply arrange furniture so that it looks purposeful. And if they are all upholstered the same, people will be hard pressed to see them as different. And I would suggest that you have only two captains’ chairs which you already have.

Bette: Sounds good to me. What do you think Tina?

Tina:  Well, we are going to have about 20 for Thanksgiving. Angie may bring someone home so, yeah. I think that is a good idea.

Jim: You said you wanted a desk in the library upstairs?

Tina:  Yes, a table top desk in that alcove next to the stair case. A desk chair at it. It will be an additional place Daniel can do his homework or a guest can use the computer. I want that area to be a quiet room for reading and writing. Of course, Daniel may want to play the piano from time to time. I hope that the music will flow down stairs, when the occasion is right.

Jim: I like the color of the furniture; however, it does not match the wall color. I would like to recover most of  the pieces. And the furniture in the children’s lounge is comfortable but it’s a bit worn. I recommend that you replace that furniture.

Bette: Okay. I have no sentimental attachment to that furniture. Just tell us what you have in mind.

Jim:  An area to view the television that would be super comfortable and cozy with cup holders. A bar for snacks and a small four top table with some casual chairs and a pool table. Once I get my technician to check out your music system and your television, I may make further recommendations. I presume all the books, CDs and DVDs will be stored on either the library or in the children’s lounge?

Tina:  That is the plan. The family room will have our framed family pictures and memorabilia. Our big study will have books relating to art and painting or our professional lives. Of course, there will be some family pictures in all the rooms.
