    Chapter 39 – Moving Weekend

Jim:  And what are you planning on putting on the walls?

Bette:  Art work. We will select and purchase what we see fit. That will be something, Tina and I will do on our own.  We have four or five pieces from out old collection that we will want to hang. We will discuss that with you when we have them here. Right now, they are in storage at Porter Gallery.

Jim:  Are you that Porter of Porter Gallery?

    Bette:  Yes, I am.

Jim:  Oh wow, I shall ask you no more questions about art. And Tina, you are a painter?

Tina:  I am a novice painter at the moment. I am just dipping my toes into the water. We are going to have to see if I produce anything worthy of hanging here at Kennard-Porter manor.

Bette: I suspect that by Christmas, we will have eight or ten pieces on our walls. And I hope that one or two will be by that new artist Tina Kennard. But that will be up to her to decide what she wants in her home.

Tina: You get a say as well sweetheart.

Jim: Okay, oh I noticed you put the New York outdoor furniture on the front porch?

Bette:  I did that for right now. I may want it replaced and give that to charity. It looks rather shabby next to the new stuff. Oh, and if you can get a small table and chairs for the deck outside of the children’s lounge. When Angie comes home, she might want her morning coffee out there.

Jim: Some of the chairs in the various bedrooms need to be recovered and a couple need to be replaced.

Tina: Whatever you think. Just do it. Stick to the fabrics and colors we have already approved.

    Jim: And the cabana?

Bette: Put our bedroom suit in the cabana. Get us all new stuff.  Let’s give Daniel’s bedroom suit to charity. Daniel gets a new suit with two beds. Get the empty bedroom upstairs a new suit. Now for Daniel, I prefer two full size beds or two queen size beds if they fit. Get new sitting furniture for the cabana with a television setup a music system or sorts. I then want a bar that has a microwave, a cooking eye, air cooker and a coffee maker and a sink. A good size sink and some dishes for say for eight. I want a guest house not to have all the conveniences. I want our guest to be comfortable but not necessarily permanent.
