Chapter 5 – A Day with No Plans

Tina:  I guess I had better have some boxes delivered to the apartment for packing of Angie’s stuff.

Bette:  Yeah, and if you get too many, we can use them to start packing up the apartment to move here. The week before we go to New Haven, I am planning for us to pack all our personal stuff to be moved here. It will either go into storage or into our new home. That trip may be our last one to our New York apartment.

Tina:  Oh my.  I hadn’t thought about that. We might as well take care of it all in one trip.

Bette:  Dylan and Helena will probably bring Marilyn over to see the apartment late on Tuesday afternoon.  After the tour, they are planning on you and Angie having dinner with them. So, if you plan on doing some shopping, keep that in mind. If Marilyn is interested in the apartment, I am going to have a crew come in and pack the art work and ship it to the Porter Art Gallery. If she is not interested in the apartment, then you need to find and sign up a real estate agent to sell the apartment and I will cancel the art work crew. I figure the art work will help sell the place. So, if you and Angie work efficiently – you can get through her stuff on Monday, shop some on Tuesday morning and early afternoon, shop and or pack what you purchased on Wednesday, shop or pack on Thursday day morning and catch the red eye Thursday night.  I’ve already made reservations for the plane and the car.

Tina:  Well except for the evening with Marilyn, we can do some things in the evening.  But if she does not want the apartment, well I’ll try to have a realtor come over on Wednesday afternoon.  I will then have to make arrangements with security to enter the apartment. Of course, if Marilyn is interested, there will still be a need to have a home inspection and an appraiser come in.

Bette:  Make arrangements for some housekeeping to be done say once a week. The place will need vacuuming and dusting and the bathrooms will need freshening up. With no one living there, there still needs to be some maintenance. Make sure the fridge has been emptied as well as the pantry. Get the house keeping service to do that. You do not have time. Just do not turn the fridge, or air conditioner off.
