Tina:  Do you want to call Shane now?

Bette:  Yeah, let’s go to the living room and do that.

Bette shut down her computer and followed Tina to the living room.  They sat on the sofa, while Bette got Shane on the phone.

Bette:  Shane, this is Bette.  Is now a convenient time to talk?

Shane:  Oh, hey Bette. Yeah, this is a good time. I’m just going through some of the bills for the various shops and cutting checks to get them paid.  What can I do for you?

Bette:  Tina is here with me and we are going to put you on speaker if that’s okay.?

Shane:  That’s fine. Hey Tina! What’s up?

Tina:  Hey Shane… not much.  We just thought we would tell you that we took your advice and went and had a checkup yesterday and we discussed our little libido problem with Dr. Wilson.

Shane:  Well, is everything okay?

Bette:  Everything is great Shane.  We are both very healthy. But we did get an explanation as to why our sex drive is off the charts.

Shane:  Really? So, what’s going on.

Tina:  We are both in the early stages of menopause! And it seems that Bette and I are experiencing a rare but not unheard-of side effect of this menopause which is a temporary increase in our desire for sex.

Shane: What the fuck? Menopause? Both of you?

Bette:   Yes, both of us.

Tina:  Shane, this is a perfectly natural part of the life of a woman. There may be some unpleasant side effects but we will handle those as they arise.  At least now we know what to expect and will not be shocked when we experience the changes that our bodies are going through. And we are going to go through it together.

Shane: Well, I guess that’s a good thing.  Now why is this menopause causing you to be such horn-dogs?

Bette:  Well, I’m sure you have heard that men reach their sexual peak sometime in their late teens or early twenties and women reach their sexual peak in their forties.

Shane:  Yeah, seems like quirk of nature.

Tina:  Yeah, I think that’s right.  This phenomenon is so that humans have the maximum potential to reproduce.  When males are young, they out spreading their seed anywhere they can. And when a woman is approaching the end of their abilities to produce babies, mother nature gives them incentive to create babies before their reproductive system shuts down. That is what is happening to me and Bette. It’s just that our systems have produced more of the hormones which stimulate the sex drive than most. Unfortunately, it’s only temporary. But we are certainly enjoying it while it last.
