Chapter 5 – A Day with No Plans
Tina: Oh, I just got a text from Dylan. They are asking us to come to dinner at their house tomorrow night. They will be gone for about three weeks, so they want to have us over before they leave.
Bette: Well, we will be out tomorrow. It’s a good time to go.
Tina: Yes. It may be a good thing so that we can see our potential rooms and where we may be living for a few weeks.
Bette: Well, that would not be the worst thing in the world. I know you would have your career delayed.
Tina: Well, if we don’t find a home, I may go to work on a temporary basis with Oscar. I know he could always use the help. I really enjoyed my work there and the organization is so beneficial to the community. I’ll do it on a volunteer basis so that leaving will not be a problem.
Bette: Is that what you want to do?
Tina: If I don’t have a place to start my painting, then I need something to occupy my time. I’m certainly not going to look at houses without you.
Bette: Well, you know we can rent a commercial space for you to do your painting in. We can get a small warehouse type structure with maybe an office and bathroom. We can set it up so that you can paint when you want to and an area for you to rest and clean up. It would be your space to do with as you deem appropriate.
Tina: If we did that, then we would not need a studio at the house. That would give us a lot more possibilities as far as a purchase. But it would be nice to just to walk to work. But it may not be large enough to meet my needs long term. Maybe we need to think about renting studio space.
Bette: Babe, I want to do whatever will make you happy. If you think we should rent or buy a commercial space, then I’m all for it. But if you have your heart set on an at home studio, we will do that. If you want both, we will do that. Even if we have to build it, we will get something that meets our needs. There is no sense settling for something which only works for a couple of years.
