Chapter 6 – Drivers Licenses and Banks

Helena told Bette that she had Peggy’s apartment visited by architects, interior designers and real estate agents and the probability was high that she and Dylan were going to purchase the apartment right away from Marilyn and start the subdividing process.  Construction would start in the fall and would be complete within a year to eighteen months thereafter. The real estate agent thought that the apartments would all be sold within 2 years after completion. And with the average price and number of apartments, it looked like a very nice profit for the venture.

Dylan came back with towels for the kids when they finished swimming.  Both Angie and Daniel were into the pool and enjoying themselves.

Helena, Dylan, Bette and Tina were served hors d’oeuvres and more drinks as the kids went and showered and dressed for dinner. The kids then joined the adults for the appetizers and conversation.

Bette and Tina had fill Helena in on the car acquisitions, the potential job for Bette and the selection of a school for Daniel.  Dylan told Tina that they had already talked to Marilyn and they would be visiting the New York apartment on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 and that she would like for her and Angie to join them for dinner after the visit.  Marilyn was thrilled with the upcoming visit.  She loved Angie and she didn’t see her enough.  Tina made a mental note to talk to her about making her Angie’s emergency contact.

By the time dinner was served, both Bette and Tina had a pleasant alcohol buzz.  Noticing this, Helena insisted that the family spend the night.  Bette and Tina were sufficiently relaxed enough to not object. Dylan said that she had some of Wilson and Jang Yin clothes which the kids could sleep in.  Wilson’s clothing maybe a little large, but they would do for the night.  Jun Yun clothes would probably fit Angie fine. They would provide Bette and Tina something from their closet.

Bette:  Helena, anything will be fine – a t-shirt and some boxers will be fine. Don’t go to any trouble. We just appreciate your hospitality. We will be out of your hair first thing in the morning.

Helena:  Not until you have had a decent breakfast! Julio will be ready to cook when you are ready to eat. You are our guest and you are not leaving without a proper meal.
