    Helena smiles and turns to Alice. (Helena) She dumped me immediately after graduation Alice raises her eyebrows and Tina looks to Helena and gives a small laugh. (Tina) Have you had a lot to drink? Helena smiles and shrugs. As Alice continues to question Helena, Tina sighs and turns to Bette, and they smile at

    Helena smiles and turns to Alice.

    (Helena) She dumped me immediately after graduation

    Alice raises her eyebrows and Tina looks to Helena and gives a small laugh.

    (Tina) Have you had a lot to drink?

    Helena smiles and shrugs.

    As Alice continues to question Helena, Tina sighs and turns to Bette, and they smile at each other. Bette moves her arm around Tina’s back and Tina leans her body back into Bette’s, smiling as Bette leans in and kisses her neck. They speak to each other quietly.

    (Bette) Are you regretting coming?

    (Tina) I’m regretting bringing Helena

    Bette laughs and kisses her shoulder, and Tina smiles as she pulls Bette’s arm more tightly around her waist.

    (Bette) I’m kind of glad you have a friend here to embarrass you too

    Tina smiles. Bette kisses slowly along Tina’s shoulder and to her neck as she runs her fingertips lightly down her arm, and Tina closes her eyes at the contact.

    (Bette) Did I mention you look fantastic in this dress?

    Tina smiles and opens her eyes. She looks over her shoulder at Bette.

    (Tina) No, you didn’t mention that

    They hold each other’s gaze for a long moment.

    (Bette smiles) Well, you do

    Tina maintains eye contact and bites her lip as she shifts her body, and Bette smiles as Tina turns in her arms to face her. Bette reaches towards her, moving her hand through Tina’s hair and pulling her closer. They lose themselves in a kiss as Tina moves her body further over Bette’s and Bette runs her hands slowly down Tina’s back.

    They are abruptly pulled from the moment when they hear Helena loudly clear her throat. They remain in position and both turn their heads, glancing around at each of their friends who are all looking back at them with raised eyebrows and poorly suppressed smiles.

    (Alice laughs) Ah, should we leave?

    Bette and Tina look to each other and share an embarassed smile as they reposition themselves alongside each other on the couch.

    Helena laughs and shakes her head.

    (Helena) It’s my round, I’ll head to the bar

    (Tina) Hang on, I’ll come with you

    Tina looks to Bette and they smile at each other.

    (Tina) Same again?

    (Bette nods) Thanks Tee

    2. Also very intrigued re: Helena’s response, “She’s not emotionally unavailable, by the way. So far from it actually. That’s the wrong description of her”. Hmm!

    4. This story is very intriguing… I’m just not sure about these two. It is obvious to everyone that these two are very much into each other… their behavior is very much into each other… but they keep going with this façade that this is just enjoying each other in the moment with no attachments and no commitments and no promises of any future. I do not know how much longer this can continue. Whether they admit it or not, they are truly connected and a sudden unavailability of one or the other would be devastating to both of them. So why not face the truth and admit this each other? This is a game at this point… time to chunk the rules of engagement and just be the people they are.

    7. It’s obvious they are both playing a game to protect their feelings for each other. Something’s coming up that will make them both admit how they truly feel. I really like this story a lot.
