Never Say Never – Chapter 2
”The Planet!” Came the shouted reply from the bedroom.
”What?” Nadia’s eyes widened as she rushed to her purse and searched through it until she found what she had been looking for, a folded piece of paper.
”The Planet!” Tina shouted again, oblivious to the rhetorical question.
”Small fucking world” Nadia mumbled as she unfolded the paper in her hands before showing it to Carmen.
It was a promotional flyer for an event happening at The Planet that very night. It listed all the bands that would be playing and Carmen’s eyes widened when she spotted the name of her favorite one.
”No fucking way!” She screamed and snatched the flyer in her excitement, her eyes scanning over the colorful paper as if in disbelief of what she was seeing.
”That was the surprise” Nadia smiled proudly, happy for the reaction she received from her best friend. ”I saw the flyer on a wall next to my lab class and knew we had to go”
”Oh my God, you’re the best!” Carmen squealed as she wrapped an arm tightly around her best friend’s neck.
Tina walked out of the room at the sound of the commotion, her head tilted to the side as she put on her earring.
”What’s going on?” She smiled at the laughing, embracing friends.
”This” Carmen smiled brightly as she walked over to Tina and held up the flyer for the blonde to see.
Tina looked over the colorful flyer, her eyes almost immediately locking onto a familiar name in the listed band names. Her heart started to beat faster and she cursed under her breath.
There in bold capital letters was the name she had come up with so many years ago. It was a name she had jokingly dubbed the band, never once considering the possibility that it would stick but there it was all the same. She cursed again.
”The Barbies are gonna be there” Carmen piped up excitedly when Tina offered no response, completely oblivious to her friend’s inner turmoil.
”You know them?” Tina asked, unable to take her eyes off the flyer. It was an instinctive question but also a dumb one on her part. Alice’s band had become well known throughout the years and judging by Carmen’s reaction to the flyer, she was obviously a fan.
