The Conversion

After feeding the dogs, I finished up the dinner and we ate. It was beginning to get dark outdoors. Bette seemed pleased with her meal and had enough that she did not want dessert. We cleaned up the kitchen and I put the leftovers in freezer bags and put those away. Bette then suggested that we go ahead and take the dogs for their nightly walk so that we could enjoy a little conversation in the living room before bed. I agreed so we walked the dogs and then released them after they did their jobs and I cleaned up after them. There were no other dogs in the park and Burt and Ernie seem to have a burst of energy. I gave them some bottled water afterwards and then had the pee again and then we walked them to the apartment. They drank more water and then immediately went to their beds as if they just knew what the routine was. Bette and I went to the potty and washed our hands and then had a bottle of water and went to the sofa to enjoy each other’s company.
I remember that I was very relaxed with Bette. We were not in hurry for anything. There were no appointments for the following day. I had promised Alice to meet her and her date at a local bar on Saturday night for a drink. She wanted to meet Bette Porter.
Bette: Wow, we are actually going to meet some of your friends this weekend? And what does Alice know?
Tina: Alice knows that I am extremely attracted to you and that I want to date you. She also knows that we have not had sex yet.
Bette: Okay. So, she knows that you are going to date a woman for the first time in your life?
Tina: Yes.
Bette: That is good Tina. That indicates to me that you are certain of what you are doing. So, am I free to be affectionate with you while we are out or should I make sure that I keep a respectable distance?
Tina: Bette, you are free to be who you are. I do not want you to hide who you are on my account. If this doesn’t go well, I’m not going to worry about it. I am far more interested in you being comfortable than if Alice is comfortable or not.

Well, what a story, I really enjoyed it.
I love how they meet, their time at Camp David and the natural progression they took together.
Try really are perfect for each other and your story certainly reflects that.
I still can’t bear to think of them not being together!
Thank you so much, a beautiful story.
I look forward to the next one.
Janice24,
First of all this story is an alternative time and life for our Bette and Tina. The story is being told by a woman who is older (85 years old) and has experienced a full and joyful life with the woman she loved. They have had more than 40 years together even though they didn’t meet until they were middled aged. I like that they took the time to get to know one another for a few days before charging into a romantic relationship. I like that Bette insist that Tina think about her own life and if she is prepared for the changes which will occur as they start to see each other romantically. Bette wants Tina to make her decision about her life knowing the possible downside. For me, that shows immediately how much Bette respects and cares for Tina right out of starting gates. I also like that Bette insist they talk about things fully as they go. She seeks out Tina’s boundaries and comfort level before they do anything. This is why their relationship is so strong…. they hide nothing from each other.
From the idea to publication, I took 4 days… I enjoyed writing this story because I could see that both Bette and Tina would go from a mundane life to a life of love and devotion within a matter of weeks. And it would result in a lifetime of happiness. Isn’t that what we all want in our lives?
Thank for reading and for commenting on this story… until I saw your comments, I didn’t think anyone had read it…. Thank you for your support and encouragement…
OMG! How did I let this gem get past me. I loved every word. I would love to read something else from you, thank you so much for your talent.
OneStorm1 – Thank you for reading… I published this a little more than a year ago and I posted it this year on Achieve of Our Own. I do have three long book stories which is a single series and one other one shot which is about the same length as this one. I then not to writer about angst and problems between Bette and Tina. I think there are plenty of authors who present those kind of stories. All my published stories are on this website. Go to the story search page, put my name in under author (Martha3128) and they are all listed.
