Bette: And what about you? Are you going to be comfortable?
Tina: This is all new to me. I want you in my life and I do enjoy it when you show me bits of affection. I think I will be fine as long as you keep things PG rated.
Bette laughed a good belly laugh.
Tina: You know what I mean. Nice kiss is fine but don’t grab my ass like I was your personal property.
Bette: I know what you mean. I can hold your hand, put my arm around you, maybe a nice chaste kiss but no boobs, butts or full body rubs. Is that what you mean?
Tina: Yes… that is what I mean.
Bette: Do not worry my dear. That is not my style. I have more respect for you and for myself than to do that. Have I told you how much I have missed you?
Tina: Yes, and I do believe you. I have missed you too. Have you heard anything from Helena or the Bidens?
Bette: No. And I don’t know what Joe’s health condition is either. I don’t think he is going to be available for any interviews. I believe anything we get is either already on film or with be second hand information. Between the two of us, we will work it out.
Tina: Are we about ready to get our lawyers together yet?
Bette: My lawyer has our bullet points and will submit a preliminary agreement to your lawyer for comments soon. We should have this hashed out by the end of the month. It’s not that complicated. Then we need to decide if we want to get a publishing company involved. I do not know how you stand financially, but we need to discuss that at some point. We are going to incur some travel and research expenses up front. We need to know how much we each can afford to make this a viable project. If we need to get an advance from a publisher, then we need work on that fairly soon.
Tina: Bette, I am very comfortable at the moment. I got a boat load out of Eric when I divorced him and I have lived a very conservative life style. My investments have paid off well and my book sales have been moderately good. They are not over whelming, but they have given me funds over and above my advance and certainly have paid my day to day living expenses. So bottom line is, I technically do not need an advance to do the research on this project. But if you do, I’ll sign on for one as well.

Well, what a story, I really enjoyed it.
I love how they meet, their time at Camp David and the natural progression they took together.
Try really are perfect for each other and your story certainly reflects that.
I still can’t bear to think of them not being together!

First of all this story is an alternative time and life for our Bette and Tina. The story is being told by a woman who is older (85 years old) and has experienced a full and joyful life with the woman she loved. They have had more than 40 years together even though they didn’t meet until they were middled aged. I like that they took the time to get to know one another for a few days before charging into a romantic relationship. I like that Bette insist that Tina think about her own life and if she is prepared for the changes which will occur as they start to see each other romantically. Bette wants Tina to make her decision about her life knowing the possible downside. For me, that shows immediately how much Bette respects and cares for Tina right out of starting gates. I also like that Bette insist they talk about things fully as they go. She seeks out Tina’s boundaries and comfort level before they do anything. This is why their relationship is so strong…. they hide nothing from each other.
From the idea to publication, I took 4 days… I enjoyed writing this story because I could see that both Bette and Tina would go from a mundane life to a life of love and devotion within a matter of weeks. And it would result in a lifetime of happiness. Isn’t that what we all want in our lives?

OneStorm1 – Thank you for reading… I published this a little more than a year ago and I posted it this year on Achieve of Our Own. I do have three long book stories which is a single series and one other one shot which is about the same length as this one. I then not to writer about angst and problems between Bette and Tina. I think there are plenty of authors who present those kind of stories. All my published stories are on this website.
