The Most Distant Course

After seeing the look didn’t back me off, Bette suddenly turned into an innocent kid who is just in huge trouble.
“Well…”
Noah folded his arms in front of his chest.
“Mama B just burned the stove…and the pan,” He did look pissed. “And now I couldn’t make a proper breakfast, I will be late for school.”
“Chill, honey, it’s nothing.” Bette looked back and forth at me and Noah, she got more and more nervous when she saw the fake stern look on my face.
Dang, I’m trying not to laugh hard.
“Look, Noah, how about that, you will not be late cause I will drive you to school, alright?”
Noah’s face changed a bit. Uh oh, I have a bad feeling about this.
“What about my breakfast?”
Bette moved her body closer to Noah, lower her voice as much as possible for not to let me hear. I raised my eyebrows, Bette Porter must forget I was not only smart…but also very good at hearing.
“I will buy you Mcdonald’s drive-through on the way…”
Any kid would be wild when they heard their parents are going to take them to Mcdonald, even Noah. My son’s eyes shine up like the small bulb on the Christmas tree.
“Okay, that’s enough,” I put the tray aside, also crossed my arms. “You, are not going to have Mcdonald’s for breakfast, and you, Mrs., you’re going to bring my kitchen back today.”
Noah’s face immediately dropped when he heard no more burgers and french fries, a sad pout appeared on his face, just like his other mother.
“But I’m hungry…”
“I will make you something else than pancakes, we still have some toast in the fridge.”
“But mama B said…”
“Oh, now you go back to your mama B, huh? You know what, young man? Your mama B is also in trouble, so you two better behave yourself before the kitchen was fixed, or your mama T won’t have a nice mood.”
I tried to be as serious as possible, the muscles around my mouth were hurt by forcing a stern face.
“But T…” Great, now it’s two against one, even my wife was on my son’s side.
Who was the one saying I was Noah’s favorite mother a few moments ago?

Hi CJ,
What a incredible good chapter!
At first i thought you skipped the part about Tina’s life in danger and moved fast forward to their future. And oh what a beautiful dream Tina had when she was fighting for her life. That is certainly a part i want to read more about! The interaction and pouting between Bette & Tina and Noah warmed my heart and made me laugh!
It was a well calculated risk Tina took, but at the end she is the absolute winner!!!
I hope to read what happened with Faye Buckley and Aaron Kornblunth and of course what happened with Candace.
I am a little sad that there will be only three chapters more on this incredible story!
Thank you so much for sharing your incredible talent as writer and this story!
Hi CJ:
Great chapter, that was very sweet, like Bibi, I thought that you skipped a whole chapter but then I realized about the wonderful dream of Tina.
Yes, it was hard but Tima made it, now we want to learn what happened with the evil people what about Buckley, Aaron, Candace.
I would like to see how the legal situation of Tina will be fixed.
And of course the happy ending.
Wonderful story, my friend.
Thanks and pps.

Love it…after three weeks some of Tina’s superficial wounds and bruises should have healed. The deep wounds and the broken bones probably will take a lot longer. And considering her fragile health, its a wonder she survived at all. Bette needs to heal also. Can’t wait to hear about Faye Buckley, Aaron Kornbluth, and Candace Newell. Oh and what really happened to Shane? Did Max really kill her? Surely not! Is Tina now really in the clear – free to live her life as a normal person? What will happen to Bette and her job? Maybe she will leave law enforcement and do something else? I really hope the Cooper Family chapter is now truly closed.
This is a good story….I want Tina and Bette to make a home and life together. Thankyou for the update.
Great Chapter!
You had me a bit at sea to start with but glad I persevered!
Mixed feelings about the story ending but really looking forward to your next post.
You are a talented storyteller, thanks for posting.
