Alice fetches her a bottle and Bette sits down on a stool by the counter, reaching for Tina and wrapping an arm around her waist as she stands alongside her.

(Shane) No last minute dramas this time then?

(Bette) A few actually, but they’re mostly under control now. There’s still an issue with the caterer but James is handling it

Bette has a sip of beer and they all nod.

(Bette) Anyway, what else is going on with everybody?

They all glance around at each other.

(Dana) Um, not a lot. You haven’t really missed much

Bette nods as she helps herself to the platter. She looks to Alice.

(Bette) How’s work Al?

Alice raises her eyebrows.

(Alice) Ah, good

She smiles at Bette.

(Alice) Really good actually, Tina bringing me to that premiere has really opened some doors for me

Bette and Tina both smile at her.

(Tina) I’m so pleased Al. It’s nothing that’s not deserved, you’re an excellent writer

(Alice) Thanks

They continue chatting away to each other until Bette finishes her beer and glances around the group.

(Bette) OK, I better get going

She looks up at Tina, who smiles back at her.

(Tina) I’ll walk you out

(Bette smiles) OK

They walk to Bette’s car holding hands and turn to each other when they reach it, Bette placing her hands on Tina’s waist and Tina hers on Bette’s shoulders.

(Tina) Good luck. I’m sure everything will be wonderful

Bette smiles as she leans in and kisses her.

(Bette) Thank you. I’ll see you there

(Tina nods) OK

Bette gets in the car and waves as she drives away, and Tina continues to stand there, watching as she disappears around the corner.

Later that evening, Bette Porter Gallery. The group all arrive and spend time enjoying a wine and mingling with some familiar guests. Bette and the artist have not yet arrived, and various media outlets are positioned out the front for their entrance.

(Dana) Is it just me or is there a lot more attention on this show than usual?

(Alice) It’s this artist, they’re a big catch for Bette. They stopped showing their work at the height of their fame and this is their first show in years
