“Thanks Kit. How much do I owe you for this”
Kit chuckles “How about more visits” she winks and nods at the picture of Emma
“I haven’t seen her since I took that picture. I guess that’s been 6 years ago now”
Tina takes a sip of her drink. “Really?..Why so long”
Kit’s face saddens and Tina felt like she overstepped “I’m sorry. You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to”
Kit shakes her head and chuckles “Honey I thought you were the one who was going to talk and I was going to listen”
Tina couldn’t help but smile “Well you tell me yours and I’ll tell you mine”
“Well that’s a fair trade I suppose” Kit says picking up the frame and looking at it again
“My sister Bette lost her longtime partner Kristin in a car accident I guess almost 7 years ago. Emma was 11 at the time. I flew to New York and helped with baby girl here while she grieved. She laid in the bed for months and kept clutching Kristin’s picture close to her. Baby girl was missing her mother so I took it upon myself to coax her out of her grief by threatening to take Emma away from her”
Tina gasps slightly but let Kit continue
“I actually got a lawyer and everything and of course that got her out of the bed and out of her grief and focused again but in turn she cut me out of her life and Emma’s” she sighs “She wouldn’t listen to me when I tried to explain that I wasn’t going through with it. I think that just angered her more so we haven’t spoken since then”
Tina sets her drink down and pulled Kit into a hug “I’m so sorry you went through that. And your poor sister to go through such a devastating loss..I can’t imagine”
Kit pulls away trying not to look sad and sighs “Well I get through it knowing that it may not have been the best way to get her out of her grief and focused on her daughter but it worked”
Kit sets the picture back down on her desk and looks at Tina “So now it’s your turn”

WhooHoo! Bette thinks she’s going to LA to be close to Emma, but she’s fixin’ to get RE-introduced to Kit and introduced to a screaming gorgeous Professor!!!

Wow! I can already tell that this story is going to have me on the edge of my seat!
Small world…. so many connections and they are all through Emma Porter. Its going to be an exciting college life for Emma. Hopefully some of the other problems will work out as well. Bette has no significant other… Tina has no significant other and Kit was just trying to do the right thing. Of course its a bit harsh to threaten to take a child away to get her back into Emma’s life.
Now that Bette is going to move to the west coast, things should really get interesting.
Liking this story a lot… thank you for this new chapter… cannot wait to see more..

Bette moving to LA, Emma, Tina and Kit already linked to each other.
What Kit did was not the way to get Bette out of her grieve for her long term partner, she was threatening to take Emma from her and already had hired a lawyer, i can imagine that Bette was mad as hell and cut Kit out of their lives. The intention of Kit to pull Bette up was good but not the way she went through it. I would have cut her off to.

Oh, my guess was wrong then – Bette not photographer. Oh, well.
